Ava's Eyes

By Sushant Shrestha

Those magical nights with Ava’s eyes

She, for one, never decides

To ground her feet, as she longs to soar

Away from here, with Love in her core

She talks of the days yet to be born

Her eyes can see calm waters weathering the storm

She tells me stories of people we’ve been

In places and times never been seen

Ava’s eyes are on my lips

Her hair smells like our days of the ships

A faint memory of all that we’ve done

Meeting again in disparate forms

Her eyes open after my kiss

I tell her how easily I could’ve missed

Ava’s eyes is what I had longed for

In many lives yet to be shown

She draws lines on the palm of my hands

She whispers as she colors those strands

With a cryptic smile she kisses my ears

She knows there is nothing to fear

Countless have come as Ava and me

Stories unknown for many to see

Her nearness unlocks many mysteries

Ancient tales hidden in the breeze

We hold each other through the night

We know soon it will be light

When we will go to different skies

Then I will again long for Ava’s eyes
